About In-House Christian Resources

The idea of putting together a Christian resource centre for Perth developed during 2001. A number of organisations involved in producing Christian resources were conscious of the difficulties involved in sharing their potential with the public.

There are many resources that are not suitable for stand-alone distribution through the traditional Christian bookshop network, and it was felt that something further was needed. Many ministers, youthworkers, teachers and others, are unaware of many resources which could be helpful to them and how best to use these.

In-House Christian Resources arose out of a desire to meet this challenge in two distinct ways

Firstly, by providing hands-on access to resources! People are encouraged to come and thoroughly investigate the resources available. For example, for Christian software, a computer is provided to enable this to happen, and assistance where necessary.

Secondly, by providing experienced help and advice about the use of resources. The resource centre will be staffed by people from the resource providers themselves, with detailed knowledge and experience of using them in differing situations.

In early 2002 the possibility of locating at Perth's Manna House Book and Coffee Shop, for the development of such a facility, arose. The trustees of The Manna House were approached and In-House Christian Resources was born.

The Manna House is able to provide a range of books, music, and gift ideas, has a great coffee shop, and is at the heart of the Christian community in Perth. It is the ideal location for a Christian resource centre.
